How do I find a home on Hodi Homes?
Download the app, create an account, and browse thousands of verified listings across Kenya. Use filters for location, price, bedrooms, and amenities to narrow your search. Save listings you like with the heart icon and book a viewing directly in the app.
Are all listings verified?
Landlords must complete ID verification before their listings go live. You'll see a blue "Verified" badge on listings from verified landlords. We strongly recommend only booking viewings with verified listings.
How does booking a viewing work?
Tap "Book a viewing" on any listing, choose a date and time from the landlord's available slots, add your details, and confirm. The landlord will accept or decline within 24 hours. You'll get a notification either way. You can message the landlord directly through the app.
Can I cancel a viewing?
Yes. Go to Bookings β the viewing β tap "Cancel viewing." Please cancel at least 2 hours before the scheduled time as a courtesy. Repeated late cancellations may affect your account standing.
When can I see the landlord's phone number?
Contact details are unlocked once the landlord replies to your in-app message. This protects both parties and keeps communication on-record until trust is established.
How do I pay rent?
Hodi Homes facilitates the initial viewing booking process. Rent payments are agreed between you and the landlord directly. We recommend using M-Pesa till/paybill as it provides a transaction record.
Can I save my search filters?
Yes! Apply your filters in the search screen, then tap "Save search." You'll find all your saved searches in Profile β Saved searches. We'll notify you when new matching listings are posted.
π For Landlords
How do I list my property?
Switch to Hosting mode in the app, tap "+ Add listing," and complete the 8-step wizard: property details, location, pricing, amenities, photos (minimum 5), description, availability, and review. You must complete ID verification before publishing a live listing.
What is the verification process?
We require a government-issued ID (National ID or passport) and a selfie. Upload them in the app under Profile β Verify your identity. Review typically takes 1β2 business days. Verified landlords get a badge that increases tenant trust.
Is there a fee to list?
Listing is currently free during our beta phase across Kenya. We will introduce a transparent fee structure before ending the beta, and existing landlords will be given advance notice.
How do I manage viewing requests?
Go to the Bookings tab β Inquiries. You'll see Pending, Upcoming, and Past viewings. Tap any request to confirm, decline (with a reason), or mark as completed after it happens. Notifications keep you informed in real time.
Can I see how many people saved my listing?
Yes. Open any of your listings from My Listings to see the number of saves and enquiries. This helps you gauge demand and adjust pricing.
How do I pause or remove a listing?
In My Listings, tap the β― menu on any listing to Pause (temporarily hide), Mark as Rented, or Delete. Paused listings can be reactivated anytime. Deleted listings are soft-archived for 30 days before permanent removal.
π¬ Messaging
How does in-app messaging work?
You can message any landlord or mover directly from their listing or profile. Messages are end-to-end tracked, and both parties get push notifications. You can reply to specific messages, like messages, and send photos.
Can I send photos in chat?
Yes. Tap the π attachment icon in the chat input to pick a photo from your gallery (JPEG, PNG, WebP, up to 5 MB). This is useful for sharing your ID, proof of income, or photos of a maintenance issue.
How do I archive old conversations?
Open the conversation, tap the β― menu in the top-right corner, and select "Archive conversation." Archived conversations are hidden from your active list but can be unarchived anytime.
π Moving Services
How do I book a mover?
Browse movers from the Moves tab or tap the moving truck icon on any listing. View reviews, pricing, and availability, then tap "Message to inquire" to start a conversation. Confirm details over chat before booking.
Are movers vetted by Hodi Homes?
Yes. All partner mover companies are registered businesses verified by our team. We check company registration, references, and track record before listing them on the platform.
What if something is damaged during the move?
Disputes should first be raised directly with the mover. If unresolved, contact Hodi Homes support via the app or at
support@hodihomes.co.ke within 7 days of the move date.
π€ Account & Privacy
How do I delete my account?
Go to Profile β scroll to the bottom β tap "Delete account." You'll be asked to confirm twice. All your data β listings, messages, viewings, and profile β will be permanently removed within 24 hours. This action cannot be undone.
How is my data used?
We use your data only to provide the Hodi Homes service. We never sell personal data to third parties. Read our full

Can I change my phone number?
Yes. Go to Profile β Phone number β tap to update. You'll receive a verification OTP on your new number to confirm the change.
I'm not receiving push notifications. What do I do?
Check your device notification settings for Hodi Homes. Inside the app, go to Profile β Notification preferences to manage which categories you've enabled. If issues persist, sign out and sign back in to re-register your push token.
