Hodi Homes is a Kenyan mobile app that connects tenants with verified vacant apartments and landlords with serious tenants. You can browse listings, schedule viewings, and book vetted movers — all from one app. Every landlord is ID-verified before they can post a listing.
Hodi Homes is currently available on Android via Google Play. An iOS version is on our roadmap — register your interest by contacting us so we know to prioritise it.
Download the app from Google Play and tap "Get Started." Enter your Kenyan phone number in +254 format and verify it with a 6-digit OTP sent via SMS. Select whether you're a tenant or landlord. Done — the whole process takes under 2 minutes.
Browsing listings and booking viewings is completely free for tenants. Landlords can also list properties for free — no subscription fee, no listing fee, no commission. Fees only apply to certain services like mover bookings, where a small platform service fee may apply.
We currently have the strongest coverage in Nairobi across all major neighbourhoods — Westlands, Kilimani, Lavington, Kasarani, South B, South C, Karen, Parklands, and more. We are expanding to Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, and Eldoret throughout 2026.
For Tenants
Open the app and use the Search tab. Filter by neighbourhood, price range, bedrooms, property type, and amenities. Tap any listing to see full photos, floor plan details, and landlord information.
On any listing page, tap "Book a Viewing." Choose an available date from the next 14 days, then pick a time slot. Confirm the number of attendees and add any questions for the landlord. Tap Confirm — your request is sent and the landlord typically responds within 24 hours.
Yes. Go to the Bookings tab, find your viewing, and tap "Cancel." Please cancel as early as possible as a courtesy to the landlord. Repeated last-minute cancellations may limit your ability to book future viewings.
Most landlords respond within a few hours. The platform sets a 24-hour response window. You'll receive a push notification as soon as your viewing is confirmed or declined.
For Landlords
After creating a landlord account and completing verification, tap "+" on the Home screen. The wizard walks you through property type, location, pricing, amenities, photos (minimum 5 required), description, and availability windows. Save as a draft at any time.
You need ID verification to publish a live listing. You can save drafts without being verified — but tenants won't see your listing until it's published and your account is verified. Verification requires a government-issued ID and takes 24–48 hours.
All viewing requests appear in your Inquiries tab. Each shows the tenant's name, requested date, number of attendees, and any questions. Confirm or decline with one tap. You'll receive push notifications for new requests and reminders before each viewing.
Payments & M-Pesa
Hodi Homes exclusively uses M-Pesa for all in-app payments. We do not accept debit/credit cards or cash. M-Pesa was chosen because it's the most trusted and accessible payment method in Kenya.
When you initiate a payment, the app sends an M-Pesa STK Push to your registered phone number. A prompt appears asking you to enter your M-Pesa PIN. Once you approve, the payment is processed instantly and you receive a confirmation and M-Pesa SMS receipt.
Yes. All payments use Safaricom's official M-Pesa Daraja API. Your M-Pesa PIN is never seen or stored by Hodi Homes — it goes directly to Safaricom. Every transaction generates an M-Pesa receipt as proof of payment.
Moving Services
From the Moves tab, tap "Book a Move." Enter your current and new address, moving date, and a description of what needs to be moved. You'll receive quotes from vetted movers. Choose one that fits your budget and confirm with M-Pesa.
All moving companies go through our partner onboarding process, which includes business registration checks and background screening. Always confirm insurance details with your chosen mover before moving day.
My Account
Go to the Profile tab and tap "Edit Profile." You can update your name, email address, and profile photo. Phone number changes require re-verification via OTP.
Go to Profile → Settings → Delete Account. Account deletion is permanent — your profile, listings, and viewing history are removed. If you have active listings, please archive them first.
Hodi Homes uses SMS OTP for login — there's no password to forget. Enter your phone number and request a new OTP. The code is valid for 10 minutes. If you no longer have access to your registered number, contact us at hello@hodihomes.co.ke.
